Originally know as Blendex Spice Company, the business was established in 1959 to supply seasoning blends to the North East's butchery trade. It was based in a small 200 square meter factory in the centre of Newcastle and provided blends for use in sausage, burgers and other meat products. As the company grew it later relocated to its present purpose built 4800 square meter factory in Hetton-Le-Hole and became Blendex Food Ingredients Ltd. In 2006 the business was sold to the Swiss based MOGUNTIA group, an international leader in the seasonings and spice industry. From a very modest turnover and four employees in 1989, the business has grown into a multi million turnover organisation, employing approximately 60 people.
